FAMILY FUN
Here are some suggestions for family days out in the sun and the rain.
Children’s play
There are many public parks with play areas for children in the area.
The Pirates Den in Dundalk has a good indoor play facility.
Funtasia in Drogheda is great for a rainy days entertainment, there is a play area, fun pools with waterslides, crazy golf, climbing wall and bowling all under one very big roof.
Seaside
There are some excellent safe sandy beaches in Blackrock, Port, Clogherhead and Bettystown, see the section on Beaches and Coastline for more information.
Farms and Zoos
Newgrange Farm is great for younger children, children can feed and pet some of the animals and chickens, there is a play area where they can play with sit on diggers and tractors.
Causey Farm is a fun based open pet farm in County Meath.
Dublin Zoo is situated in Phoenix Park, there are good animal enclosures where the children can get a good view of the animals.
Belfast Zoo, situated in the hills behind Belfast.
Dublin
The Viking Splash Tour is great fun for kids of all ages, tour the streets of Dublin in a landing craft wearing Viking hats and scearing the locals then splash into the river and tour Dublin by water.
Museums in Dublin include: The Natural History Museum, The National Wax Museum and the National Museum of Ireland.
Tayto Park is a theme park close to Dublin in Ashbourne where there is a rare breeds farm and animal petting corner, High ropes activity coarse, climbing wall and play area.
Belfast
Titanic exhibition is a truly unique experience, visitors will re live the entire story of the Titanic story and walk through life size room replicas. You can even have afternoon tea in a life size replica Dining room from the Titanic.
